What is a Gooseneck Trailer?
The Gooseneck Trailer gets its name from its unique hitch, which is designed with a long, arched “neck” section at the front that looks very similar to – you guessed it – a goose’s neck. The coupler is specifically designed to clear a pickup’s closed tailgate and connect to a ball inside the bed for a frame-mounted hitch that is positioned over the rear axle. This positioning puts less strain on your vehicle and allows for heavier tow loads.
Typically, a Gooseneck Trailer is much longer, wider, and heavier than most bumper-pull units, which allows them to carry more weight (upward of 30,000 pounds) without compromising stability. Often used for commercial purposes like vehicle towing, livestock transporting, and heavy machinery; it can even be used as a custom RV or work center. The Gooseneck is an invaluable asset when you need to move the BIG stuff.
What are the Benefits of a Custom Gooseneck Trailer?
YOur Gooseneck Package is designed to meet all of the unique requirements that our clients may need. Some of the benefits that are gained from the use of one of these specialty trailers are:
- The bed remains functional: Even though you will be attaching the Gooseneck to the middle of your truck bed, you still have access to it and can utilize it when needed.
- Cut corners tighter: You will be able to maneuver the trailer in tighter spaces. It does require a little more practice to learn how to maneuver because of its tight turn radius.
Easy hookup and operation
- Larger trailer bed: The increase in size allows you to tow larger items and more items than standard Bumper-pull Trailers.
- More stability: Since the tongue weight of the trailer is over the truck’s rear axle rather than the back of the frame, there is less opportunity for the trailer to sway. The increased stability also means Gooseneck trailers can accommodate more weight.
